How a Manufacturer Improved Clarity by Pivoting Guardian Stretch Films

Overview

Our team visited the customer’s facility to audit their existing stretch film practices and solve their scanning issue when their products are ready for shipment. The customer was looking for a stretch film that would provide them with more clarity on their skids for scanning the expediting labels. In the audit, our team learned that the customer was wrapping the top and bottom of pallets 6 times to secure the load for shipment.

 

The solution we provided was pivoting the customer from Crawford Guardian G70 film to our newest Guardian film line, Guardian G91. Guardian G91 is our highest-performance Guardian stretch film, using up to 30% less materials.

 

This pivot allowed the customer to reduce their top and bottom wraps from 6 to 3 offering much better clarity to solve their scanning problem as well as an overall reduction of film.

 

Although the customer increased the gauge of their stretch film and their price per roll has slightly increased, the cost per skid has been reduced since the skids are top and bottom wrapped 3 times instead of 6. The customer is also seeing reduced shipping errors and labour savings due to increased scan ability.

Challenge

Our customer, who manufactures custom labels, was struggling to scan their expediting labels for shipment after the products were palletized and wrapped with their Wulftec stretch wrapper.

 

Process

Our Packaging Specialist, Lindsey Legue, and Director of Business Development, Doug Crowe, visited the customer’s facility to audit their existing stretch film practices and understand what they are looking for.  In the audit, our team learned that the customer was wrapping the top and bottom of their pallets 6 times to secure the load for shipment.
