The Toshiba TEC thermal transfer/direct thermal printers (B-SX4T & B-SX5T) provide superior carton labeling performance and reliability in a variety of industries including manufacturing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, electronics and telecommunications.
Thermal transfer printing is a printing technique where print head elements, referred to as dots, apply heat to a thermal transfer ribbon. The dots melt a transfer compound on the front side of the ribbon which is then transferred to the label material.
Direct thermal printing is a process that does not require a ribbon to print. In direct thermal printing the print head elements come into direct contact with a heat sensitive label material. When the heat from the elements reacts with the label it changes the material color and forms the printed image.
