Duties and Responsibilities
- Replenishment and Buying (33%)
- Evaluate P21 Purchase Order Requirement Generation and place orders for all consumable items, according to MRP parameters.
- Maintain continuous communication and follow-up with suppliers and internal customers.
- Adhere to expediting processes and ensure suppliers meet their delivery commitments.
- Participate in meetings to ensure the effective execution of customer forecasts and address any inventory issues.
- Address any instances of missing documents, shipments, and deliveries through problem-solving.
- Communicate inbound and outbound priorities effectively with the Warehouse and Logistics Team.
- Actively engage in continuous improvement initiatives and supplier evaluation process.
- Strategic Inventory Management (33%)
- Resolve supply shortages promptly through substitutions when necessary.
- Analyze reports and assist in managing slow-moving inventory by either returning it to suppliers or finding suitable substitutions.
- Connect with Sales Reps and Sales Management and address slow moving inventory.
- Keep precise records of consumables and item maintenance data.
- International Sourcing (33%)
- Works with cross-functional teams to understand international sourcing opportunities.
- Communicates with overseas suppliers in obtaining quotes and proposals.
- Identifies opportunities for combining volumes and optimizing volumes with overseas suppliers.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Job Qualifications
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in a purchasing or supply chain capacity.
- Proven ability to consistently achieve inventory management objectives.
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or industrial sectors is an asset.
- Customer service oriented, driven by meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations.
- Experience in sourcing products (ideally packaging) from Asia.
- Experience in analyzing supplier proposals and understanding TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) concepts.
- Understanding of critical packaging commodities, such as film, tapes, corrugated, bags, angleboard, trays, health and safety supplies.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities along with effective influencing and negotiation skills to drive results, both internally and externally.
- Strong commitment to work and a collaborative team spirit.
- Effective and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel) and familiarity with MRP systems. Working knowledge of P21 Epicor is an asset.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and inventory valuation concepts.
- CPP certification from SCMA is a plus.
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is beneficial.
