Warehouse Lead Hand (Afternoons)

Job Summary

We are looking for a Warehouse Lead Hand for the afternoon shift to join our team. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the afternoon Lead Hand requires an individual who is willing to work on the floor and supervise staff to ensure everything is completed safely, on time and by following processes and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the afternoon shift warehouse staff.
  • Maintain open communication with warehouse manager, daytime supervisor and other department heads regarding any issues, problems or concerns that arise throughout the shift relevant to their department.
  • Working together keeping open communication while problem solving, in a faced pace environment with repetitive tasks, heavy lifting, bending, crouching kneeling, manual dexterity etc.
  • Conduct all the training of new warehouse employees.
  • Assist with performance reviews of all warehouse staff and drivers.
  • Assist and supervise in all aspects of health and safety.
  • Ensure all necessary training is complete for all staff under supervision.
  • Assist with operations of the warehouse such as:
  • Use of RF Scanners and Warehouse Bar Coding.
  • Loading and unloading of products and materials by hand, or with basic material handling equipment.
  • Picking orders and putting stock away while often working at heights.
  • Weighing materials and goods, making labels, wrapping, sorting and stacking.
  • Maintaining an organized inventory.
  • Operating a computerized inventory control system.
  • Working as part of a team, being courteous and customer service focused.
  • Working together keeping open communication while problem solving, in a faced pace environment with repetitive tasks, heavy lifting, bending, crouching kneeling, manual dexterity etc.
  • Comfortable with numbers and finding information, significant use of memory as well.

Job Qualifications

  • Forklift certification required.
  • Experience using Dollies, Hand trucks, strapping machines, Pallet lifters, Industrial lift trucks and forklifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Comfortable with numbers and finding information, significant use of memory required.
  • The ability to conduct oneself in a professional manor while supervising staff and completing all necessary tasks.
  • Ability to handle weights up to 45kg (100 lbs)
  • Comfortable with computers (computerized inventory control system)
  • Ability to read, speak and write English.
