Improve Your Sealing Process With our Tape-it-Right Program

Case Study: Food Processing

Overview

Our team was contacted after the customer was having trouble with their current tape sealing equipment and materials. One of the most common case sealing issues has to do with using the wrong tape. This often results in inconsistent sealing due to environmental issues, low product security, or excessive tape use. Using out-of-date sealing equipment and hot seal tape, the customer experienced the tape not sealing fully creating damage to their product.

Our Packaging Specialist, Justin Bernard, and fellow supplier Kyle Kuska from IPG, visited the customer’s facility several times to work through Crawford’s Tape-it-Right program with the customer.

The first step for ensuring success for this customer was implementing 3 new sealing machines into their facility. As well, after testing up to 5 different types and sizes of tape, they landed on 400 acrylic long roll tape as it is compatible with their sealing equipment and solves their pain point.

The customer is now seeing consistent sealing practices on all their cases as well as increased throughput. As well, they will be having their sealing machines serviced on a regular basis by Crawford’s in-house service team.

Challenge

The customer was experiencing troubles while trying to seal their products in preparation for shipment. The customer was using pre-existing tape machines which were causing issues on their own. They were originally using hot melt tape which isn’t the best when transitioning from environment to environment because the adhesive holds best at steady temperatures.

Wrap It Right

Crawford’s Wrap It Right Program works with clients to audit and review their existing stretch film practices and equipment to identify inefficiency. Wrap It Right will increase productivity and reduce costs through standardization of load containment and stretch film practices. Through the Wrap It Right program, clients have realized up to 30% on their annual stretch film costs.
